Daffodils are the surest sign of spring. However, I don't expect to see any signs of daffodils until April as our hillside is still covered with snow. However, I can't resist the bunches of daffodils that are sold in the grocery stores. Just a touch of spring, the bright yellow color, the scent of their fragrance are enough to bridge the gap until our daffodils bloom!!

Oatmeal has been a favorite breakfast in my house. Ever since we had it at the Pocono Manor Inn when I was probably 5 years old - so creamy, warm and delicious!! It's always been my goal to make it like I remember having it there!! Afterall, it sticks to your ribs and I suppose that means it's good for you!!
Fast forward to adulthood - we now know the cholesterol healing qualities of oatmeal - so it's healthy and tasty - a winning combo.
I found the oatmeal cannister at an antique shop a few years ago so I can prominently feature it on my counter everyday!!
And the good news, Bob's Red Mill makes gluten free oatmeal so Jim can eat it too!! My newest favorite way to prepare it - use almond milk and dried organic bing cherries - it maybe tied for first with the oatmeal I remember from the Pocono Manor Inn!!

I became obsessed with flow blue dishes 15 years ago when Mom and I frequented tag sales and antique fairs. I just personally respond the blue and white and in particular the flow blue. And have a small collection.
The term flow blue is used to describe a type of fine china that was made from around 1800-1920 whereby the blue paint when fired, flowed and became blurry – thus “flow” blue. The older intact pieces are extremely collectable and very valuable.
I am lucky that my grandmother actually had the last made flow blue pattern as her fine china. My grandmother’s plates are the iris pattern. And I treasure them - a true heirloom!!

Do you collect anything? I seem to have a thing for chickens and my friends know it. I have chicken everything!!
My friend, Dottie gave me this nesting chicken for Christmas. It's adorable and I love it. I think I will be serving some soup or veggies in it soon!!

Want to make soup an elegant experience? Serve it in an elegant bowl and enjoy. I picked up these pieces at an antique store for short money a few years ago and love using them to create an elegant table with many people afraid to touch the "fine" china!!
