Trisha Runyan on Heirloom Meals Radio
Trisha Runyan's story is one of discovery - discovery of her past as it informs her new life back on the family farm and her growing awareness of food as a connecting fabric. As a child she spent summers with her maternal grandparents farm in Big Bend Texas or visiting her paternal grandparents' farm in Arkansas. There was a sharp contrast between the 2 cultures of grandparents as evident through their style of farming and their ethnicities. Trisha went off to the big cities to pursue her life/careers and returned to her parents farm to take care of her mom as she promised she would do. For Trisha, this has meant reconnecting to her little girl memories, in particular the way dirt smells. In fact, Trisha sees the cycle of life represented in the compost pile.
Enjoy this lovely walk down food memory lane with Trisha. I am still waiting to taste cantaloupe empanadas!!
