Heirloom Meals: Savoring Yesterday's Traditions Today

Jolene Hart

Jolene grew up with a mom who understood that food is medicine.  Ironically, when Jolene struggled with acne and severe skin problems as teenager and young woman, her doctors had her on and off antibiotics for years. Jolene's was desparate for a cure.  And even when she became a beauty editor with countless products coming across her desk, her skin continued to torment her.

But Jolene reverted to her earth mom's ways and began to think that perhaps it was her diet that was impacted her beauty.  Jolene pursued a certification as a heath coach at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  ANd the light bulb went off. Beauty is actually wellness.

Jolene was inspired to write a book to share what she has learned. Eat Pretty is a wonderful book and is a must read for moms and teenagers alike. For instance, knowing that vitamin A is an essential nutrient for healthy skin, it seems eating carrots and kale is a superior choice to antibiotics and expensive topical creams.

Jolene's story is inspiring. She went full circle to her mom's wisdom that food is medicine.
