Sour Milk Spice Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Butter Cream Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter softened
  • 1 lb confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • boiling water

Cake Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Then add the raisins, nuts or other ‘goodies’ of choice.
  3. Pour into an 8x8-inch greased baking pan. Bake at 305°F for 20-30 minutes (for cupcakes 15-20 min.)

Frosting Directions

  1. Beat butter, sugar, vanilla and almond extract together.
  2. Continue to beat while adding boiling water little by little until it is a spreadable consistency.

  • Cook time: 20-30 minutes
  • Total time: 1 hour
