Heirloom Meals: Savoring Yesterday's Traditions Today




  • 1 19 oz can Chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup Tahini Paste
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • Ice water


  1. Drain chick peas and rinse. Add water and heat to boiling, then set aside to cool.
  2. In food processor, whirl garlic and spices, add tahini, lemon juice and drained chick peas.
  3. Add ice water in small amounts until consistency is creamy. More spices may be added to taste.
