Alchie Cake
Cake Ingredients
- 1 lb flour
 - 1 tsp baking powder
 - 1 tsp salt
 - 1 lb butter
 - 6 well beaten Eggs
 - 1 lb cherries
 - 1 lb dates
 - 1 lb mixed raisins/currants
 - Spices to taste nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon
 - 1 bottle port
 - 1 bottle rum
 - 1/2 lb breadcrumbs
 
Sauce Ingredients
- 1/2 lb butter
 - 1/2 lb sugar
 
For cake Directions
- Use electric mixer to mix flour, baking poweder, salt, and butter.
 - Then add 6 eggs.
 - After mixing put fruit, spices, port, and rum on top.
 - Stir heartily and then add breadcrumbs (this makes mixture more cake-like).
 - Pour into buttered pan and bake around 70 degrees for a few hours.
 - Watch closely so it doesn't overcook.
 
For sauce Directions
- Simply use mixer to blend butter and sugar
 
Alternatives Directions
- For a healtheir, gluten-free nutritionaist version, use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs, and unrefined sugar such as rapadurra. Substitute goji berries for raisins. And of course high quality rum and port!
