Leah grew up in the Midwest, her mom was Jewish and her dad, a protestant. Her childhood was typically American with family dinners consisting of midwestern food and traditional Jewish food.

Leah developed a keen interest in religion and sustainable food in college and now has dedicated her career to writing about Jewish food traditions. Her latest books Modern Jewish Cooking: Recipes & Customs for Today’s Kitchen, and The Hadassah Everyday Cookbook: Daily Meals for the Contemporary Jewish Kitchen  places one foot in the past and one foot in the future.
