Heirloom Meals: Savoring Yesterday's Traditions Today

Brent Ridge of the Beekman Boys on Heirloom Meals Radio

I admit it, I watch the Amazing Race.  And I loved the season when the Beekman Boys competed with pure grit, wit and determination to beat the odds and win the $1 million. So cool. So inspiring.

I loved every second of Brent's interview. I feel that our heart and soul share a similar frequency and we are on parallel paths in so many ways.... Left the big city to move to the country, learned to embrace local seasonal foods, and have a deep understanding that food is the connection to our past and the bridge to our future.  We both know that stories give recipes context and are often more important than the recipe itself.

Words in their cookbook, The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook: Heirloom fruits and vegetables, and more than 100 heritage recipes to inspire every generation, speak to my core being.  Brent shares “The recipes that I remember most tend to be the simplest ones….Fragments of these rainy-day writing exercises can still be seen in the way we cook on the farm today.”

So listen up to hear Brent Ridge share his journey from North Carolina to becoming a doctor and now, with partner, Josh Kilmer-Purcell created a lifestyle brand known as Beekman 1802.

Thank you Brent for what you do. Can't wait to collaborate!! xoxo
